3 days ago · What a bike! Then the 1090 and 1190. Well, they’ve all been replaced with KTM’s biggest ever machine – the 1290 Super Adventure R. This is a behemoth of a bike and takes on BMW’s mighty GS Adventure. And KTM aren’t messing about… the 1290 is a serious machine capable of anything you throw at it. Onmybikenz Adventurer. I’m about to pick up my 2023 790s this week and I’ve been reading lots threads about these bikes. Lots of comments about reliability and QC. Common issues with soft cam shafts, immobiliser and side stand switches. Despite this, the bikes keep selling. Seattle I've been thinking about buying a used 1190 but have been a bit hesitant for a couple of reasons. Am I getting the wrong impression looking at all of the issues in the forums online? I have read about the air filter issues and resulting engines that needed a rebuild in the early model years. 2020 790 adventure R reliability. ASKKTM. The 790 Adventure R is absolutely perfect for me, but the only thing holding me back from buying it over a Tenere 700 is reliability. It seems like tons of people claim that little things are always going wrong with the 2020 790 range - nothing too bad but enough that it’ll ruin a good day of riding.

My experience is that at most highway cruising speeds, the 890 is turning in the mid 4,000s and is at happy point in the torque curve for strong acceleration for passing and hill climbing.2016 KTM 1190 R Yesterday I installed a stage II Rottweiler Canister and SAS removal kit. At the same time, I installed a Cyclops LED headlight upgrade. Now, when I ride and get mildly spirited, about 5 seconds after I let of the throttle I get a General Failure warning and the Fuel Gauge starts flashing. My first KTM purchase was last year in July. I bought a brand new 2015 1290 Super Adventure. I’d been eye-balling the 1190 Adventure R for a while and taking a 1190 standard Adventure for a couple of test rides didn’t make things any easier. The level of comfort in the over-all layout of the 1190 and 1190 R were second to none. Tough to beat the OEM Yuasa for reliability. The 1190 has a parasitic draw which tends to shorten the life of batteries if you don't keep them on a tender when storing them. #3. SURFINASPHALT and windblown101 like this.
